Our program started on January 3, 2003 when a group of the youth bowlers and parents got together and asked Youth Director Annette Anderson who was going to leave the center because of the things they wanted her to do with the program that she did not agree with. A lot of us had been with her a long time and enjoy the way she runs things and cares about the youth and the program. So we asked her if we could put together a program independently and have her run it and because she likes turtles a lot and this is about bowling that is how we became the TurtleBowl. We started out at Chaparral Lanes in San Dimas, CA and then in April 2011 we moved over to Oak Tree Lanes in Diamond Bar, CA.
Our Tuesday league is called Jr/Adult Turtle Crew there is 1 Adult & 1 Youth on a team. They bowl at 6:30 pm so that the kids can be home by 8:30pm and in bed and ready for school the next day. We bowl 3 games each week.
Our Thursday league is called the Pin Heads there are 2 on a team and the ages are 19 and under. We bowl 3 games each week.
On Saturday we break down the leagues into 3 groups:
We have the Rug Rats that are 8 & under with1 on a team and they bowl 2 games each week and do not use bumpers. Our program believes in teaching the proper way of bowling from the beginning. As long as you can pick up the ball and carry it to the foul line you can join our program we have as young as 2 year old in our group bowling.
The Pin Pals is the next group which are 8 to 12 year old with 1 on a team at this time and bowl 3 games each week.
The Strike Force who are 12 & up and they have 3 on a team and bowl 3 games. This group is a junior/adult league so those juniors that are not ready to go into adult leagues can still bowl with us, and we will help you get in the adult tournaments. Teams must consist of at least 1 junior bowler.
All are leagues at this time are handicap and depending on your average and ability on the Saturday league you can go to the different leagues. League fees are $8.00 for the 2 games and $10.00 for the 3 games each week.
We are all in this together - and we are glad you are visiting our site. This is our online meeting place, where we organize our activities, share ideas and publicize our mission.
